Phonics Workshop for Teachers at Darshan Academy

A phonics workshop for pre-primary to grade 2 teachers was conducted at Darshan Academy, Devlali, on April 8, 2025. The workshop aimed at enhancing teachers’ skills in phonics instruction, ensuring a strong foundation in early literacy for young learners. The session began with an introduction to the importance of phonemic awareness and the systematic teaching of sounds and letters for young learners. The resource person, Mrs. Aisha Khan, innovatively explained the synthetic phonics approach, demonstrating how to teach blending and decoding skills effectively. The workshop also emphasized differentiated instruction to cater to learners at different reading levels and provided tips on assessing phonics skills through various games and observations. The session ended with a group reflection, where teachers shared their key takeaways and discussed ways to implement phonics more rigorously into their effective teaching and learning practices.
