A skill development workshop was organized for Scouts and Guides under the guidance of Ms. Ashvini Vaidya, an award-winning trainer from the Bhartiya Scout and Guide movement and recipient of the prestigious Asia-Pacific Award. The workshop aimed to enhance the students’ practical skills and emergency preparedness. Ms. Vaidya demonstrated the method of making phenyl, a useful household disinfectant, which also taught the students about cleanliness and basic chemistry. This activity not only encouraged self-reliance but also highlighted the importance of hygiene in daily life.
In the next session, Ms. Vaidya taught the participants how to make an “inter-knot” using rope, a crucial skill in emergency situations, such as rescue operations or first aid. This knot-making session was especially engaging, as it introduced the participants to the basic techniques of rope work, an essential part of Scout and Guide training.
All attendees highly appreciated the workshop. It not only helped the students gain practical skills but also inspired them to be more self-sufficient and prepared for real-life situations. The presence of a renowned personality added great value to the event. The Scout and Guide Skill Development Workshop was a great success. It provided valuable learning, boosted confidence among participants, and upheld the Scouting core values of discipline, service, and self-reliance.
